Garden Spider

Argiope aurantia
Black and Yellow Garden Spider with her giant egg sack! In late summer the male spider lurks about the female, waiting to mate, and ready with a drop line in case she attacks. Once the deed is done, the female kills her mate and then patiently builds her egg sack. She guards her eggs as long as she is able, but once the weather turns, she will die in the cold.
