Painswick Town and Cemetery

While I enjoyed the Painswick Rococco gardens, I completely loved the town of Painswick. It was built on top of a little hill and everything about the town was beautiful and quaint. The other nice feature was that the town actually seemed full of local people. It reminded me of Cortona, Italy, a medieval hill town that seemed lived in.

The church and cemetery was in the middle of the town and it was the most beautiful cemetery I have ever been to. Between all the very old tombstones stood some very old yews, all pruned in a similar style as the yew's at Powis Castle. It felt ancient and melancholy.

An example of some of the detailed stone work found throughout the town.
